This is the third Aspen Publishing textbook I've had to suffer through in my pursuit of a degree in Legal Studies. Every Aspen book I've dealt with has been absolutely terrible. The writing is rambling, wordy, semi coherent, and after two or three pages of unfocused blather will inevitably end by saying, "check the statutes in your area". It almost seems as if the author was being paid by he word, or was told to produce a specific number of pages to satisfy his contract with the publishing company. This particular book is 415 pages long, not including appendices, glossary and index. If clearly and concisely written, as any good textbook should be, the actual information contained in this book would fill only about 200 pages, and half of that number would be instructional images, such as document samples. I am an A student, so my dissatisfaction with this book in particular, and Aspen Publishing books in general has nothing to do with lack of understanding of the subject matter, and everything to do with the poor quality of the books produced.Textbooks produced by Cengage and McGraw Hill are far superior, both in content and quality.
So, while I received the textbook, as pictured, it was not in what I would consider to be good condition. The spine of the book is ripped and separating at both ends, and both covers are creased as a result of being shoved onto a shelf or into a backpack multiple times.
This was the required textbook for my course. My classmates and I were all frustrated with the number of noticeable typos. Whoever edited this didn't do a very thorough job. Otherwise, the content was fine and laid out nicely.
I have to use this book in my paralegal classes. I have to read over and over, the language is not clear and I believe this is not due to ability to read. I have a law degree from abroad and I am used to read classics from Dante to Machiavel. The layout of the book is terrible. I wish I had another option to use in class.

I purchased this for my paralegal class, so a required book, but it's pretty good. I actually enjoy reading this one (as opposed to other classes' books).
