Yaakov Shapiro grew up in Conservative, Modern Orthodox, Lithuanian-Charedi and Chabad­-Chasidic Jewish schools, earning rabbinical ordination in the latter. The best book on the subject. However, this book is primarily for those with a yeshiva and strong Talmudic background. Unlike Rabbi Boteach's Kosher Sex, this book is not geared for light reading. Every halachic opinion on the subject of sexual positions is rigorously analyzed and explained. Don't want to give away the book, but, here's the good news, most of what you may have thought to be prohibited is totally kosher!

Very exhaustive and well referenced.

Much anticipated and worth the wait.

This book (Sefer) is the definitive guide to a very touchy subject. It goes without saying that its just a matter of time before orthodox world jewry starts to rely on it as a Jewish law treatise on the subject of marital intimacy.

Sensitive to Mesora, thorough in analysis and realistic to today's generation. A must read.

it was really a monograph that was stretrched out to be a book. Would have been better if edited down by 2/3

If this book, which I have not at this point read to the end, is on the level then it has information essential to every Jewish marriage. That said, while parts attempt to be chatty and it pulls no punches (WARNING: while not a salacious read, the translations are up to date and not for the timid), it is intensely technical and repetitive - so much so that the author, who claims to have spent many years preparing it, actually apologizes for that. The end notes take up more pages than the actual text! One matter which is a pet hate of mine - while not advertised as such, this is only Volume One of an intended series on the subject.It carries no rabbinical "haskamot" (approvals) and is not alone in this when it comes to this subject, but among the many quoted authorities in the third edition is a Hebrew book by Rav Eliezer Melamed who is one of the leading go-to Rabbis for serious halachic erudition in the 21st century, at least for uncompromising but non Haredi Jews in Israel. The author says, and I heartily agree, that an English translation of Rav Melamed's book would be timely.

Excellent book on the subject. In my opinion the BEST one out there. Rarely have I seen a book on halacha with such thorough documentation and clear excellent analysis!
