With a light mystical element (á la Star Wars), the story is a blend of science fiction and fantasy that doesn't stretch credulity too much. The characters, even very minor ones, are described in a way that fires the imagination and makes them very engaging within a few sentences. There's also more than a little gender-bending going on, as well as some challenging of traditional relationships.Zeus is quite an interesting character. He is not some thinly veiled damsel-in-distress, such as is all too common on many gay stories. He has a great deal of mental as well as physical strength, something which in itself creates an unusual dynamic with Dargon, who imagines himself as the top dog in any relationship. The presence of a third being, in the form of Dargon's symbiote, adds yet another layer of complexity to the dynamic.This was definitely a wild ride, that ended a little too quickly. Wow, that was awesome! I loved this book! I will not even try to recollect the many creatures that were mentioned but I will say that the descriptions are so vivid and detailed! This author knows how to write cool Sci-Fi story! So many feels, different cultures and matings going on but there is nothing insta here! It will take time and work! Oh yes, my kind of book!I loved Zeus, his tenacity and his strength, how he was with his brothers, the loyalty he inspired in others was amazing. He has sassy sense of humor, he is one heck of a fighter and he longs for love and devotion. There are scars that tell the story of a man who was hurt so badly but he opens his mind and heart to Dargon and Alpha, and they become Alpha Trine.Dargon is somewhat difficult to describe. All I would say that he is graceful, strong and has commanding presence. He comes from a planet where at puberty everyone is partnered with an ancient being called Alpha, his symbiote. This relationship is quite fascinating, and when Zeus joins the party it becomes downright thrilling. The fact of the matter, there are three sentient beings of different species who try to understand each others' needs and traditions. I loved their interactions - how they turned from antagonistic and angry to tender and passionate.This whole book is a feast for imagination! I loved every page and can't wait to read its sequel. I highly recommend it!P.S. There is mention of alien pregnancy but not in a traditional sense which was quite riveting, so be in the know.

I really enjoyed this story. The mother’s grief was believable..even tho she believes Canry still lives. The way she claimed Zeus as her son was pretty awesome, but best was the way the rest of her family accepted him as well ;) Their devotion to their different child/sibling was beautiful.I have to say I really like Zeus! He is very secure in his place & who he is...most especially when he was still blind. Having sight kinda of put him out & his preference for being without & feeling that he was more ‘whole’ sightless was kind of refreshing. For people who had sight & lost it that might seem backwards, but to a person who never had sight...who actually was content & never felt blind as Zeus is described suddenly dealing with the reality of visual sight & having to adjust would be challenging.The Big Bad in the story is not fully explained but it looms in the story & I hope it is expanded on in the next book. Truthfully Zeus’s whole discovery of who he is & where he came from felt kind of clumsy? Dunno if that’s a good way to describe it, but it ties in with events & the past which have not been fully explained yet..so maybe that is why it jangled a bit?The romance is Instalove...which I often love but this time felt too rushed ,too forced. I didn’t understand Dargons hostility & how he missed the apparently obvious resemblance of Zeus to the people Dargon had just rescued. Maybe it was more about trying to resist his instant want of Zeus & how adamant Alpha was that they claim him? Dunno...but the relationship lacked something.I DID enjoy the twist with Alpha being a full participant in the physical relationship( tho still not clear on Alphas race past but hope future books will fill out/explain) Totally loved this version of procreation! Tho in the story it’s damn fast! lolAlso the fact that Dargon shifts into a cat form doesn’t seem to serve a purpose? He is already catlike so didn’t feel a full shift to a lion like beast adds anything to the story.I have hope their relationship will evolve as the story progresses.So overall I really like this story & will be reading the next book😁
